Where I End & You Begin

@ MASS MoCA

Explore a world hidden in plain sight through an immersive adventure for two.

“A powerful emotional and spiritual experience…you are meditating with this building, with this campus, and with this land.”

- New England Public Media

An intimate, cinematic journey, Where I End & You Begin guides two participants on a mesmerizing walk through MASS MoCA’s galleries and historic campus. Guided over headphones by an ever-present narrator, you and your companion weave through one another’s stories as you slowly uncover the mysteries of the show. A custom, location-aware app and site-responsive soundscore keeps the two of you connected throughout, guiding you both towards the experience’s surprising end.

About

  • This 85-minute immersive audiowalk weaves you and one other participant in tandem through multiple MoCA galleries and historic buildings before expanding into an outdoor setting for the final minutes of the work.

Throughout the piece, a narrating voice gently guides you and your companion through the show route, while a site-responsive soundscore runs underneath the action.

Over the course of the show, you’ll become companions, secret-holders, witnesses, and partners in ritual as you explore your connection to one another and to the environment around you.

Run on dedicated show devices and headphones, this work relies on a synchronized and sincere experience between the two participants.
